NewsLetter: 2011
February 2011
Despite the abundance of SNOW, we have good news - spring is almost here!
It is now time to book your spring vaccination appointments for all species as appointment times are already filling up.
We at Black Pond are once again offering several voluntary preventative healthcare programs to try to keep your animals heath costs down. See the next page for your choices and options.
Don’t forget we offer:
- Electronic Coggins tests using digital photos of your horses
- Fecal egg counts to determine if your worming program is effective
- Enhanced digital radiography capabilities for even better images and ability to be viewed on-site for client or farrier
- Shockwave therapy, which has been very popular for treating tendon and ligament injuries, tears, back pain, and bone injuries
- EKG capabilities
- Ultrasonography
- Endoscopy and gastroscopy for airway and ulcer issues
- Thermography
All of these services can be performed in-the-field or at our haul-in clinic. We continue to bring in patients for lay-up, intravenous treatment (Lyme treatment) or fluid therapy, lameness evaluation, artificial insemination, and more.
Remember, Whit Acres Farm can bring your horse in for any kind of lay-up/medical care, elder care, or vacation stay. Please visit their website at www.whitacresfarm.com or call 781-659-4321 for more information.
We now have an ONLINE PHARMACY! Please go to our website at www.blackpondvetservice.com. From there you will be able to order medications as well as supplements, fly control, bandaging supplies, and other products at your convenience. This allows us to offer the same products from our reputable and safe distributors at a reduced rate so we can help you save money!
I look forward to seeing you all this spring… in the meantime, keep those buckets clear of ice and check your animals’ body weight beneath that hair coat to make sure they are not too skinny or getting too fat.

BPVS Preventative Health Care Packages 2011:
All animals may be signed up individually at any time but payment must be received prior to your first visit (and before May 1st payment deadline) to qualify for the current year. Please call the office to sign up your animals. We will continue to offer services as in previous years at non-discounted prices if you choose not to participate.
Animals signed up for one of the health care packages qualify for 5% off all services offered throughout the year, including emergencies.
Additionally, we have not included barn call charges in the packages as we think it unfair to charge a barn call for every animal when we traditionally break those up according to the numbers of owners, to make it cost-effective.
